Eigenfactorizer: Color-coded Journal Ranking Tool for PubMed
Eigenfactorizer is a free Chrome add-on developed by jevinw that aims to enhance the user experience on PubMed by providing color-coded journal rankings based on their Eigenfactor Article Influence score. This tool is designed to help users filter content and easily identify high influential journals.
The Eigenfactorizer tool ranks journals on PubMed according to their Eigenfactor Score, a measure of journal impact, and assigns colors to them accordingly. By simply glancing at the colors, users can quickly identify the most influential journals in their search results. In the future, the tool plans to extend its functionality to include article-level rankings as well.
The rankings provided by Eigenfactorizer are based on more than 16 million citations from over 5 million citing papers and cited references on PubMed. This ensures a comprehensive and reliable assessment of journal impact. The development of this tool was a collaborative effort between Geoff Davis at Google, Jevin West, and Carl Bergstrom at the University of Washington.
